About the Artist
"Creating art for me has always been about the manipulation of color and how it effects us."
For Dannette, art has always been about evoking emotions through the use of color. At an early age, having been a policeman's daughter and an elderly caregiver, she was intrigued by life's many dramas, learning just how precious life can be. These experiences inspired her to paint openly about life and death in a raw and intimate state, while maintaining an innocence and playfulness through her use of bright, vibrant colors.
Dannette's love of color led her to study mandalas. A mandala is a creative symbol used as a spiritual guide to finding one's inner self. Through this process, she discovered how combining extreme colors can create movement and optical illusions. Mandalas are referenced in many of her abstract works.
Dannette also believes the mandala was her guide into jewelry making. To her it's about being an individual. "Jewelry speaks for you...an embellishment that tells how you feel on the inside."
A graduate of Lake Erie College with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art, Dannette continues to expand her horizons as a custom framer and art gallery manager. She currently resides in Willowick, Ohio with her husband and son.
